“I have a bum left knee,” or “my lower back has
degenerate/bulging discs,” or my right shoulder is clicking.” These are
common things I hear as part of my job. These are also ailments I help
people improve upon. Many people have a set amount of Physical Therapy
they are allowed to utilize. For example 12 to 24 sessions. Well after
they are done with PT then what? Did you do the homework that your PT
assigned you? Do you know what and how to continue at the regular gym on
your own? These are also all statements and questions I hear often. Not
only do I help people lose weight, or help people be better movers in
CrossFit, I help people who suffer from basic injuries post PT in the
gym. Odds are, the injury you have I have dealt with it and improved on
it.
Corrective Exercises (CE) are movements in the gym to help people gain
strength in areas that haven’t been utilized in an amount of time that
allowed it to weaken. CE is also a practice of correcting muscle
imbalances you may have. For example, office workers tend to have what’s
called, “Upper crossed Syndrome.” This is where you have your head
forward, rounded shoulder and a rounded lower neck/Upper back. Super
common and super easy to help deal with.
I also hear a lot of gym go'ers complain that their “X Muscle is
hurting,” so they skip the gym because of it. For example, I hear
complaints about the shoulder. Well, that leaves your lower limbs and
core available for work in the gym. Don’t be that person! Listen to your
body, work around the affected area and make it to the gym!
I have helped numerous people post PT, or even without going to PT
ranging from torn ACL, MCL, shoulder impingements, low back issues such
as bulging and degenerative discs, protrusions in the disc. I have
experience with people who suffer from MS and Diabetes, hypertension and
hormonal imbalances.
I encourage anyone who needs help in the gym to reach out to me and I
will be more than happy to steer you into the right direction!
